For a tight bathroom joint, choose the cartridge size and access you need before choosing a powerful gun. A larger gun does not make a narrow bead more precise. It may be harder to position behind a faucet or beside a toilet.
Two documented options are the manual Newborn 250 for standard cartridges and the DeWalt DCE560B for repeated work where cordless feed is useful. This is a specification-based comparison, not a hands-on claim that either produces a cleaner bead.
Match the gun to the package
| Option | Manufacturer specification | When to consider it |
|---|---|---|
| Newborn 250 | Manual, 18:1 thrust ratio, 10 oz / 1/10-gallon cartridges, revolving cradle | Ordinary cartridge work without buying batteries |
| DeWalt DCE560B | 20V MAX 10 oz / 300 ml adhesive gun, tool only | Repeated application when its size, cost and battery requirements make sense |
DeWalt’s DCGG571 is a grease gun, not a caulk gun. Do not buy it for dispensing bathroom sealant.
Amazon buttons search for the corrected model. Confirm that the selected offer is the whole tool, the intended cartridge holder and, where needed, the correct battery and charger.
Newborn 250: a manual option with a revolving cradle
Newborn specifies an 18:1 thrust ratio and a revolving cartridge cradle for model 250. The cradle can help maintain nozzle orientation as you move around a joint. Its actual usefulness depends on the space available and how the tool fits your hand.
Before buying, measure the clearance behind the fitting and allow room for the gun’s rear rod and your hand. A cartridge holder that fits the tube can still be too long for the approach angle. A narrow nozzle does not solve a collision between the gun body and the wall.
Higher thrust is not a promise of less mess. Material viscosity, nozzle opening, application speed and release technique still affect the bead. Practice with the chosen material on a suitable scrap surface if you have not used it before.
DeWalt DCE560B: a separate decision for repeated work
DeWalt identifies the DCE560B as its 10 oz / 300 ml adhesive gun supplied as a bare tool. It belongs in a different cost and storage comparison from a manual gun. Include compatible batteries and a charger in the total if you do not already own them.
Consider it for repeated application only after confirming access. It is not automatically the better choice for one cramped bathroom seam. The tool’s feed mechanism cannot correct poor joint preparation, an unsuitable sealant or a gap that needs repair before sealing.
Why 29 oz is not the default bathroom choice
A 29 oz cartridge requires a compatible holder. It is not simply a longer-lasting version of any small tube you already bought. Common kitchen-and-bath sealants may be sold in standard cartridges or smaller squeeze tubes, so select the material first and match its packaging.
For one short accessible joint, a suitable squeeze-tube product may avoid buying a gun. Check the product’s instructions and whether you can apply and tool it consistently. Do not purchase an oversized gun solely to reduce cartridge changes on a small repair.
Solve the joint before the shopping list
Remove failed material as directed, check that the underlying surfaces are sound, and use a sealant approved for those surfaces and the water exposure. A wider or repeatedly opening gap needs investigation; forcing more material into it with a stronger gun is not a repair strategy.
Compare kitchen-and-bath sealant requirements and old-caulk removal precautions before starting. Protect finishes, follow the sealant’s safety and tooling instructions, and allow the specified time before water exposure.
