The Flexzilla FZ8140503 is a retractable reel with 50 feet of 14-gauge SJTOW cord, a five-foot lead-in, lighted triple-tap outlet and built-in 13-amp circuit breaker. Flexzilla recommends the reel for dry indoor locations.

This assessment uses Flexzilla’s specifications. It does not claim a hands-on retraction or heat test.

Add the connected loads

All three outlets share the reel’s total 13-amp, 1,625-watt rating. Add the nameplate draw of equipment that may operate together and also stay within the branch-circuit rating. The reel does not create more circuit capacity or make a fixed appliance portable.

Voltage drop and heating depend on load, length and cord condition. Follow the equipment maker’s extension-cord rules; some tools prohibit long or undersized cords. Unreel the length required by the instructions rather than operating a high load on a tightly coiled cord.

Plan the structural mount and cord path

Flexzilla allows wall or ceiling mounting with the swivel bracket. Anchor into framing or another structural member able to support the reel, extended cord and pull forces. Drywall alone is not a suitable mounting structure.

Place the reel so the cord avoids garage-door tracks, vehicle paths, hot surfaces, sharp edges and standing water. The SJTOW jacket’s resistance properties do not make plug connections waterproof, and the reel housing is not for permanent outdoor or wet-location installation.

Inspect the retraction system

Pull and latch the cord under control. Guide it during retraction so the triple tap does not strike a person, vehicle or bench. Stop using the reel if the jacket, plug, grounding pin, latch, bracket or housing is damaged. Resetting the local breaker repeatedly without reducing load is not a repair.

Buying decision

Choose FZ8140503 when 50 feet reaches the measured work area and the combined load stays within 13 amps. Choose the documented 12-gauge model when the equipment and distance require it.
