Custom Building Products makes this remover for cement grout haze on compatible surfaces. It is not the right chemistry for every epoxy residue or polished stone.

Where it fits

Use it after the grout maker’s initial cleaning window when a true cement haze remains. Fresh, uncured grout and unknown stone need installer guidance.

Purchase and use checks

Identify tile and grout type, test first, follow dilution and dwell instructions, and protect metals and adjacent finishes. Do not use extra strength to compensate for wrong chemistry.

Read the label before using any cleaner

Identify the surface and the contamination before choosing chemistry. Check the current label for compatible materials, ventilation, protective equipment, dwell time, rinsing, and disposal. Never combine cleaning products or pour a second drain product onto chemistry already in the line.

Recurring backups, more than one affected fixture, damaged grout, or an active leak requires diagnosis rather than a stronger cleaner. Test surface cleaners in an inconspicuous area and stop if the finish changes.

Confirm that the film is cement grout haze

Powdery cement haze usually appears after cement-based grout dries on the tile face. Epoxy residue, silicone smears, hard-water scale and construction dust need different methods. Check the grout bag and installer records before choosing chemistry.

Start with the least aggressive method allowed for the tile. Protect nearby metal, wood and painted surfaces, and keep the area ventilated. Work in a small section so the solution cannot dry on the face.

Test before treating the whole installation

Natural stone, polished surfaces and specialty tile can etch or discolor. Test an inconspicuous spare or corner and let it dry before judging the result. Follow the manufacturer’s dilution, dwell, agitation and rinse instructions; adding strength or time can damage the surface without improving the result.

If the grout itself is soft, powdering or newly installed, stop and ask the grout manufacturer or installer. Cleaner cannot repair a curing or mix problem.
