Confirm that hollow drywall is the right load path
Use framing where the fixture, mount instructions or expected movement requires it. Televisions, grab bars, overhead items, cabinets and other safety-critical or dynamic loads should not be assigned to a drywall anchor merely because one laboratory number appears high.
Check wall thickness and cavity depth against the BB range. Layered drywall, plaster, tile, masonry or insulation can prevent the channel from rotating and seating correctly. Soft, wet, broken or heavily patched drywall needs repair or a different attachment point.
Inspect for utilities before drilling
Locate likely wiring and plumbing routes and use appropriate detection and building knowledge. The hole required for a toggle is larger than a pilot hole, so uncertainty about the cavity is a reason to move or obtain qualified help.
Drill the diameter specified by TOGGLER, insert and rotate the channel as instructed, draw it flat to the rear surface and remove the straps correctly. Use the specified bolt and engage adequate threads. Tighten to seat the fixture without crushing the drywall face.
Account for bracket leverage
A shelf or bracket that projects from the wall creates leverage beyond the item’s weight. Include contents, handling and impact in the load assessment. Spread attachment points only as the fixture maker allows; adding anchors to weak board does not create framing.
