Record the interface, not just the finish
Measure the closed-door overlay at the hinge side, count the hinges, photograph the door edge and cabinet frame, and record the existing cup or surface-mount arrangement. Note whether the door is full overlay, half overlay, or inset. The manufacturer’s diagram should control the final distinction.
| Measurement | Record | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Overlay | Door overlap on the frame | Sets the hinge geometry. |
| Door position | Full overlay, half overlay, or inset | Changes the mounting path. |
| Cup/interface | Size and edge distance if present | Prevents a near-match that cannot seat. |
| Plate and screws | Hole spacing and plate style | Determines whether the cabinet side accepts it. |
| Motion | Opening angle and nearby obstructions | Prevents handles or doors colliding. |
Do not drill new holes until the replacement instructions confirm the location and the cabinet material can accept them. A hinge that “almost fits” can still leave the door rubbing, sagging, or unable to close.

This worksheet does not identify a universal hinge size or guarantee compatibility with a particular cabinet line. Exact manufacturer drawings and the existing cabinet construction control the purchase.
