Research scope: This is a specification and use-case review of model AA255, made under license by Cleva North America. We did not run suction or durability tests.
What the AA255 is
The AA255 is a small, corded car-and-garage wet/dry vacuum: 2.5-gallon nominal tank, 120 V 6 A motor, 53 CFM published airflow, 1-1/4-inch hose system and a 16-foot combined hose-and-cord cleaning reach. It also converts to a blower. Cleva explains that “2 peak HP” is an industry comparison term, not the motor’s continuous output, so 53 CFM and the intended debris are more useful than the horsepower label.
This format suits car interiors, stairs, workbenches and small spills because it is light enough to carry and easy to store. It is a poor substitute for a large wheeled vacuum when cleaning a whole renovation area or collecting a large volume of water; the nominal tank volume is not the usable fill volume.
Filters and wet pickup
The manual distinguishes dry pickup from liquid pickup. Install the correct dry filter before collecting dust. For liquids, follow the manual’s filter arrangement and stop when the float closes the airflow; a sudden change in motor sound is a signal to switch off and empty the tank, not to continue forcing suction. Never collect flammable liquids, hot ash or hazardous dust.
Fine drywall or silica dust needs control equipment selected for that hazard. A general-purpose AA255 and its standard filter should not be described as an OSHA silica dust extractor.
Accessories and version check
Current AA255 documentation includes a hose, 2-in-1 utility nozzle/brush and crevice tool, with replacement filters and parts tied to the model. The similarly named AA255W has an expanded accessory package, while the DAA202W is a 20 V cordless design. Check the label and carton rather than assuming all 2.5-gallon Armor All kits match.
Buying route and verdict
Verify the AA255 on Cleva’s current product page and read the AA255 operator manual . Match that model in retailer results.
The AA255 is a good fit for frequent, small vehicle messes and spot cleanup where portability matters more than tank capacity. Choose a larger wheeled vacuum for bulky debris or repeated water removal, and a rated dust extractor when the material creates a respiratory hazard.
