The Craftsman CMCF813B is a brushless V20 quarter-inch impact driver sold as a bare tool. It is intended for compatible fastening work, not as a calibrated torque wrench or a guarantee against stripped screw heads.
This is a document-based review. We have not measured driving speed, noise, runtime or bit life against a drill/driver.
What the model provides
The official CMCF813B listing specifies a brushless motor, quick-release bit holder, up to 1,500 inch-pounds of torque, 2,800 RPM and 3,500 impacts per minute. Battery and charger are separate purchases.
Those are maximum manufacturer specifications. They do not establish the torque delivered to a particular fastener in a particular material, and they do not justify tightening until the tool stops. If the assembly specifies a controlled final torque, use the required method and an appropriate calibrated tool.
Where an impact driver helps and where restraint matters
Repeated suitable screw driving can justify a dedicated driver, particularly when a separate drill remains set up for pilot holes. That is a practical workflow option, not a guarantee that every user will work faster.
For small cabinet hardware, delicate fittings, plastics or flat-pack furniture, follow the assembly instructions. Impact action can damage parts or overdrive fasteners. A hand tool or drill/driver with appropriate control may be the better choice. Do not interpret a high torque rating as permission to install structural fasteners without the specified pilot holes, spacing and procedure.
Use compatible impact-rated accessories. Eye and hearing protection and a secure workpiece matter more than whether the tool fits neatly on a shelf. Keep hands away from rotating accessories and remove the battery before adjustment or bit changes as directed by the manual.
Buying checks
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| CMCF813B model number | Craftsman sells several impact drivers with different specifications |
| Approved V20 battery and charger | Brand name alone does not establish compatibility |
| Bare tool versus complete kit | Determines the usable first-purchase cost |
| Required bits and adapters | Must suit both the tool and fastening task |
| Need for drilling or precise final torque | May require another tool rather than this purchase |
Verdict
Consider the CMCF813B when you have repeated appropriate fastening work and its complete package fits your budget. For mixed occasional drilling and driving, compare a suitable drill/driver first. A kit is not automatically cheaper than separate components; compare the actual approved contents at checkout.
