For a single-handle pull-down Delta kitchen faucet, the two models worth comparing are the Essa 9113-DST and the Leland 9178-AR-DST. Both flow at 1.8 gpm, fit one- or three-hole sinks with 8-inch spacing, use MagnaTite magnetic docking and integrated PEX supply lines, and carry Delta’s Lifetime Limited Warranty. The Essa is taller and has more spout reach. The Leland adds ShieldSpray, a splatter-containing spray mode. Choose by your sink, backsplash and window clearance first, then by spray features.

This comparison uses Delta’s product pages. Nobody installed or tested either faucet for it.

Delta says ShieldSpray puts a concentrated jet inside a ring of water that holds back splatter. It’s useful if you rinse a lot of pans or sheet trays. If you mostly fill pots and rinse dishes, the Essa’s standard spray and extra reach may serve you better for less money. Delta also says the DIAMOND Seal valve lasts twice as long as the industry standard. That claim comes from a lab cycle test, not a service-life guarantee.

Measure above and below the counter

Above the counter: check the hole count and spacing, deck thickness, the overall height against a window sash or shelf, and whether the spout reaches the middle of the basin. A 15-1/4-inch faucet can block a window that opens inward over the sink.

Below the counter: the pull-down hose drops and rises as you use it. Clear its path of filter canisters, pull-out bins, the disposal and stored cleaners. A hose that catches on something stops the wand from docking. The integrated supply lines connect to 3/8-inch compression shutoffs. If your shutoffs are seized or leak, replace them before installing the faucet.

Hard water and low flow

Touch-Clean holes let you rub mineral buildup off the spray face, but neither faucet treats water. Clean the finish only with methods Delta approves. If flow drops later, check the aerator and the hose for kinks before you suspect the cartridge.

Verdict

Both are reasonable pull-down faucets when the drawing fits your sink. Choose the Essa if you want more height and reach at a lower list price, and the Leland if you’ll use ShieldSpray. Before ordering, confirm the full model and finish suffix: 9113-DST is chrome Essa, and 9178-AR-DST is Arctic Stainless Leland.
