The DeWalt DXCM602 is a stationary, belt-driven, oil-lubricated air compressor with a 60-gallon tank. It should be chosen from its delivered airflow and installation requirements, not simply because a large tank appears to promise uninterrupted tool use.
This assessment uses the model’s manufacturer instruction manual, E113314. We have not measured recovery, noise, electrical starting behavior or long-term reliability.
Air delivery is the deciding specification
The DeWalt DXCM602 manual, hosted by Home Depot , lists 11.5 SCFM at 90 PSI and a 175 PSI approximate cut-out pressure. These figures describe different things: delivered air at a working pressure versus the tank’s pressure-control setting.
Compare the air requirement and operating pattern of every intended tool with the compressor’s documented limits. A larger receiver provides stored air, but it does not create additional continuous pump output. A sander or spray gun can consume air differently from an intermittently used nailer.
Do not assume that weekly use alone justifies this machine, or that a smaller tank necessarily has lower delivery. A tool with inadequate air supply remains a mismatch even in a large, tidy workshop.
Plan the installation before delivery
This is not a normal portable appliance to plug into whichever outlet is nearby. Have a qualified electrician verify the model’s supply, protection, wiring and local requirements against the current manual and rating plate. Retail descriptions can differ in their electrical summaries; this review is not a circuit-design instruction.
Plan safe handling, the specified mounting arrangement, ventilation and service access. Keep the drain, controls and oil-service points reachable. Include suitable pressure regulation, hoses, fittings and any air treatment required by the tools in the complete cost.
Maintenance and safety limits
Follow the manual for oil checks, moisture draining, inspection and storage. A tank that is corroded, damaged or has been modified needs appropriate professional assessment; do not weld or patch it. Never bypass the pressure controls or safety valve.
Do not use compressed air on the body or as breathing air. For workshop cleanup, consider collection at the source rather than blowing fine dust into the room. A large compressor does not make airborne dust less hazardous.
Verdict
Shortlist the DXCM602 when its verified delivery meets the tools’ demand and the workshop can support the complete stationary installation. Compare a portable or smaller unit when the task is occasional inflation or intermittent fastening, but compare actual airflow rather than assuming tank size ranks capability.
