The DCF845B and DCF860B use DeWalt’s 20V MAX system; the DCF801B uses 12V MAX. The first purchase decision is the fastening job and compatible battery you own, not an assumption that the largest torque figure makes the best household tool.

These are quarter-inch hex impact drivers for appropriate bits and fasteners. They are not calibrated torque wrenches, and their published maximum output does not tell you the final tightening torque of a particular joint. We have not tested driving speed, vibration or durability.

Three identifiable options

Model Manufacturer specification Reason to compare it
DCF845B 20V MAX; three speeds; 1,825 in-lb maximum torque and 3,400 RPM A documented option for someone already using this battery system
DCF860B 20V MAX; three speeds; 2,500 in-lb maximum torque and up to 3,800 RPM Higher published output when the intended fasteners justify comparing it
DCF801B 12V MAX; 1,450 in-lb maximum torque; 5.05-inch front-to-back length Compact access and an existing 12V system

See the exact manufacturer pages for the DCF845B , DCF860B and DCF801B . These specifications do not establish a measured winner in the same screw, material and battery conditions.

Battery compatibility is not charger compatibility

Do not interchange 12V MAX and 20V MAX batteries in these tools. However, owning both systems does not necessarily require two separate chargers. DeWalt’s DCK221F2 kit includes a charger described for 12V–20V MAX batteries. Read the model label and approved battery list on your actual charger.

All three B suffix products here are tool-only listings. Compare the price of a working setup, including an approved battery and charger, rather than comparing a bare tool with a complete kit.

Match the driver to the fastening task

For cabinet hardware, delicate screws and assemblies with a specified torque, more impact output may make control harder rather than improve the result. Use the fastening method required by the hardware maker. A drill/driver with appropriate control or a hand tool may be the better choice. A low-speed or precision mode is useful control, not a guarantee against stripping threads.

Check the space available with the bit and battery installed. Tool-head length alone does not describe the reach into a corner. Use suitable impact-rated accessories, and do not assume a socket adapter turns a hex driver into an equivalent impact wrench.

Verdict

Shortlist the DCF845B or DCF860B around an existing 20V system and the actual work. Compare the DCF801B when access and a 12V setup matter. Avoid buying a second battery platform solely for a maximum-torque number that your projects do not require.
