The FIRMAN H07552 is a gasoline/propane portable generator rated at 7,500 running watts on gasoline and 6,750 on propane. It has electric start with recoil backup and four outlets, including a 14-50R. FIRMAN caps 240V output at 31.3A, so that 50A-style outlet doesn’t deliver 50 amps. It suits a manual home-backup setup through a properly installed transfer switch. It isn’t an automatic standby system.
This page uses FIRMAN’s specifications for model H07552. Nobody ran, load-tested or measured noise on this generator for it.
Output on each fuel
| Fuel | Starting watts | Running watts |
|---|---|---|
| Gasoline | 9,400 | 7,500 |
| Propane | 8,450 | 6,750 |
Size the plan to the running watts on the fuel you’ll use, and treat starting watts as headroom for motor surges. FIRMAN rates runtime at up to 12 hours at 25 percent load from the 8-gallon tank.
The outlets and their limits
| Outlet | Rating |
|---|---|
| 5-20R GFCI duplex | 120V, 20A |
| L5-30R twist-lock | 120V, 30A |
| L14-30R twist-lock | 120/240V, 30A |
| 14-50R | 120/240V, 50A receptacle; 240V output tops out at 31.3A |
The 14-50R lets you use a 50A-style cord or inlet, but the generator still supplies at most 31.3A at 240V, which is the same 7,500 W. Size the transfer switch, inlet and cord to what the generator delivers, not to the receptacle’s shape. Have an electrician install a transfer switch or interlock that keeps the generator from backfeeding the utility line. Never plug a generator into a house outlet.
Other published specs
- Engine: 439cc with a cast-iron sleeve, plus low-oil shutoff.
- Noise: 74 dB at quarter load.
- Weight: 212 pounds. Plan how you’ll move it from storage to the operating spot.
- Warranty: three years.
FIRMAN’s product page lists low-oil shutoff but doesn’t list an automatic carbon monoxide shutoff, so treat CO protection as entirely a placement and alarm question.
Where it can run
The CDC says to run generators outdoors at least 20 feet from doors, windows and vents, and never in an enclosed or partly enclosed space such as a garage. Keep battery-powered or battery-backup CO alarms working inside. Let the engine cool before refueling.
Verdict
The H07552 is a reasonable manual-backup generator when you need 240V through a transfer switch and want gasoline or propane. The 14-50R adds connection flexibility but no extra power. The Champion 201281 has nearly identical fuel ratings and adds automatic CO shutoff, so compare outlets, weight and warranty between them rather than the headline wattage.
