Verdict
The Klein Tools MM700 is a discontinued auto-ranging True RMS multimeter. It can remain useful for an owner who understands its manual, ratings, fuses, leads, and condition, but a used or old-stock purchase should be compared with the current MM720 and other supported meters.
Klein’s documentation lists a 4000-count display and no non-contact voltage (NCV) detection.
Documented functions
Klein’s archived documentation lists AC/DC voltage and current, resistance, continuity, diode, capacitance, frequency/duty cycle, temperature, and low-impedance mode. LoZ can reduce ghost-voltage readings, but the user still must select the correct function, jacks, and procedure.
The data sheet lists CAT IV 600V and CAT III 1000V ratings, subject to the meter, leads, caps, environment, and manual. Never let a category label substitute for training and PPE where exposed energized work presents shock or arc-flash hazards.
Buying discontinued stock
Check the case, display, input jacks, battery compartment, fuse type, leads and insulation, thermocouple, pouch, manual, and evidence of damage or contamination. Verify the meter on a known source before and after critical measurements as the instructions require.
MM720 is not just a renamed MM700. Klein lists a 6000-count reverse-contrast display and current feature set for MM720. Compare the actual functions and accessories you need.

Research limits
We did not inspect, calibrate, or energize an MM700. Condition, calibration, leads, fuses, environment, and user procedure determine safe and accurate use.
