Verdict
The Kobalt XTR KXDD 1424A-03 is a 24V Max brushless 1/2-inch drill/driver. It fits buyers already using Kobalt 24V batteries or deliberately choosing that platform. It is not the KXHD 1424A-03 hammer drill, so do not buy it for a promised hammer mode.
Identity and kit check
Lowe’s identifies KXDD 1424A-03 as the XTR keyless brushless drill/driver. Its listing describes a kit with battery, charger, and hard case. Package contents change, so match the model and carton rather than relying on a family photo.
Use the clutch for controlled fastening and drill mode for drilling within the manual. For masonry, choose a documented hammer drill or rotary hammer and the specified bit.
Platform and safe use
A bare-tool price is not comparable to a kit price. Verify the current tool and battery warranty and keep the receipt; warranty length is not proof of failure rate.
Use the auxiliary handle for demanding work when the manual calls for it. Stop if the bit binds, keep both hands positioned to control reaction torque, and remove the battery before changing accessories or clearing a jam.

We did not measure torque, runtime, chuck runout, or durability. The exact kit, battery, bit, material, and technique determine performance.
