Research scope: We used Makita’s current 4329K product specifications and compared its format with the cordless XVJ01Z. We did not test cut quality or vibration.

What the 4329K offers

The 4329K is a compact corded top-handle jigsaw with a 3.9-amp motor, 11/16-inch stroke and 500–3,100 strokes per minute. It provides three orbital settings plus straight cutting and weighs 4.2 pounds. Makita includes a blade, hex wrench and case.

This is a straightforward occasional-use choice: no battery investment, no charging and a familiar trigger grip. Its smaller motor and stroke distinguish it from Makita’s premium cordless barrel-grip XVJ01Z. Brand name alone does not make the two equivalent.

Match the blade and setting

Use straight action and a fine blade when surface finish matters; orbital action can speed rough wood cutting but usually increases tear-out. The correct blade depends on material, thickness, curve radius and desired edge. Verify the shank and blade limits in the manual instead of assuming any marketplace assortment fits.

Makita lists maximum cutting capacity of 2-9/16 inches in wood and 1/4 inch in mild steel at 90 degrees. Those are capacity limits, not assurances of fast or perfectly square cuts. Support the work, use a guide when practical and allow blade deflection room on thick stock.

Corded ownership trade-offs

The cord makes long shop sessions simple, but it must stay behind the cut and away from the blade. Use a suitable supply and a properly sized extension cord only when permitted by the manual. Inspect the cord and plug before work.

The base bevels for angled cuts and uses the included wrench for adjustment. Make a test cut after setup. For repeated long straight work, a circular or track saw is usually the better tool; the jigsaw earns its place on curves, openings and interrupted cuts.

Verdict and buying route

The 4329K fits a homeowner who wants an affordable corded jigsaw for periodic cutouts and curves. Choose a cordless model for site mobility, or XVJ01Z specifically when a barrel grip and LXT system justify its higher complete cost.
