The Maytag MDB4949SKZ is a 24-inch built-in dishwasher with front controls. Maytag lists a stainless-steel tub, its Dual Power Filtration system with a food chopper, a PowerBlast cycle, heated dry and a 50 dBA sound rating. It suits a buyer who wants visible controls and a chopper filter instead of a filter that needs regular manual cleaning. It has no third rack. If you need a utensil tray on top, or a quieter machine for an open-plan kitchen, look at other models.

What the leak and warranty claims cover

Leak Identification System. Maytag says it can stop filling and drain the tub when it detects certain leaks. Maytag excludes leaks at the water inlet, drain connections and hoses, and leaks from a cracked tub or door. Those are where installation leaks usually happen. A careful hookup and a check under the machine after the first cycle still matter.

Ten-year limited parts warranty. This covers named parts, such as the racks, the chopper blade and the stainless tub. It is not ten years of full parts-and-labor coverage on the whole machine. Read the written warranty and confirm there’s authorized service near you.

Installation fit

  • Measure the cabinet opening at the top and bottom. Check that the floor is level and whether new flooring has raised it.
  • Confirm the shutoff valve, drain route and electrical connection. Depending on the seller, the power cord, water line, 90-degree elbow and mounting hardware may or may not be included.
  • Set up the drain with a high loop or an air gap as the instructions and your local code require.
  • Secure the dishwasher to the counter or cabinet sides so an open, loaded door can’t tip it forward.

Scrape bones, labels and hard debris off dishes even with a chopper. The filter is built for food soil, not trash.
