Red Devil Lifetime Ultra 230 is a paintable elastomeric acrylic latex sealant for indoor and outdoor trim, window, door and siding joints up to 1/2 inch wide. It cleans up with water and can take latex paint in 4 to 6 hours. It is not for joints below the waterline or below grade, and it needs 72 hours away from water to cure.

Red Devil lists uses on window and door frames, siding, trim, baseboards, countertops, sinks, bathtubs and vents, and adhesion to wood, tile, drywall, brick, glass, metal, aluminum, concrete and masonry. The sheet also says to use it on primed surfaces.
The cartridge label advertises joints “up to 1 inch wide,” but the technical data sheet caps joint width at 1/2 inch. Go by the data sheet.
Pick the right SKU
The 10.1-ounce cartridges are 0770 white and 0777 clear, plus cedar (077010), almond (077020), brown (077040), gray (077050) and black (077060). Clear (0705) and white (0775) also come in 5.5-ounce squeeze tubes. Ultra 230 is a different product from Red Devil’s silicone and construction adhesives.
Application and limits
- Remove the old sealant. The surface must be clean, dry and free of dust, grease, oil, mildew, wax, loose paint and frost.
- Cut the nozzle at 45 degrees to the bead size you need, then tool the bead before it skins over.
- Keep the bead away from water for 72 hours. Cool or humid weather extends that.
- Red Devil doesn’t recommend it for vehicles, aquariums, mirrors, or below-waterline or below-grade work.
Caulk won’t fix failed flashing, rotted trim or a crack that keeps moving. Repair those first.
Warranty
Red Devil’s limited warranty replaces the product if it peels, cracks or separates when applied as directed. You need proof of purchase and the used cartridge. It covers residential use only and excludes labor and consequential damage. “Lifetime” is the product name and warranty language, not a measured service life.
Verdict
Ultra 230 is a sound choice for paintable trim, siding and window joints within its 1/2-inch width and 40°F to 90°F application limits. For a joint that will sit in water, or one that needs a plumbing, glazing or firestop listing, choose a sealant made and rated for that job.
