Rheem sells several different water-heater technologies, so a useful quote needs a complete model number and installation scope. A gas tank, resistance-electric tank, heat-pump tank and tankless heater cannot be compared only by brand or nominal capacity.

A concrete example: two ProTerra electrical paths
Rheem publishes a ProTerra 120V shared-circuit plug-in range separately from its ProTerra hybrid-electric specifications . Do not assume a 120V version has the same operating modes, recovery or supply needs as a 240V hybrid model.
The installer should compare the exact model’s first-hour delivery with household peak demand, not just the number of people or tank gallons. Heat-pump installations also need the specified air volume or ducting arrangement, ambient conditions, condensate handling and service clearances.

An energy estimate is not a guaranteed bill saving. A tankless system’s headline maximum flow also does not promise that flow at every incoming-water temperature.
Compare complete quotes
Ask each contractor to include the heater model, removal, permits where required, connection changes, safety provisions, commissioning and warranty responsibilities. Keep labor coverage separate from parts coverage. A lower appliance price can be outweighed by substantial conversion work, while a more expensive option may suit an existing supply arrangement better.
Do not reuse incompatible venting or change electrical supply merely because the new heater occupies the same space. Qualified installation is especially important when changing fuel or technology.
Verdict and buying route
Rheem belongs on a shortlist when a documented model meets demand and can be supported locally at an acceptable installed cost. Use the manufacturer’s product and contractor routes to obtain that specification. A generic Amazon search mixing elements, anodes and complete heaters is not a verified purchase path for this decision.
