The Ryobi RYi2322 is a gasoline inverter generator rated for 1,800 running watts and 2,300 starting watts. Ryobi’s published output specification distinguishes these figures. The larger headline number is temporary starting capacity, not power you can continuously assign to appliances.
This review uses the manufacturer’s product and operating information. We have not measured noise, fuel use or output quality under changing loads.
What it can power depends on the load
The RYi2322 manufacturer record identifies a 120V generator with CO-sensing shutdown and Bluetooth monitoring. Do not confuse it with the RYi2322E electric-start package or assume that the ONE+ starting battery on another version supplies the household output.
List the running demand and startup requirements of the actual appliances. A refrigerator, pump or compressor can require additional power when starting. Avoid a shopping list based only on generic appliance estimates; nameplates and manufacturer guidance are the starting point, with professional advice where needed.
This is not a 240V supply for a well pump, range or other 240V load. Inverter branding does not override voltage, capacity or the connected equipment’s requirements.
Operating location is a purchase gate
CPSC advises outdoor operation at least twenty feet from the home , with exhaust directed away from doors, windows and vents. Follow the manual and any greater required separation. Never run it in a garage, porch enclosure or partly enclosed space.
A CO shutoff is an additional feature, not permission to move the generator closer or omit working CO alarms. Protect operation from weather using only an arrangement that preserves the required ventilation and safety conditions.
Connection and upkeep
Use appropriate cords and the manufacturer’s limits for individual loads. Any connection to building wiring requires suitable transfer equipment selected and installed for the home. Never feed a receptacle backward or improvise a male-to-male cord.
Budget for oil, fuel handling and the maintenance schedule before an outage. Shut down and let the unit cool before refueling. Plan dry storage and a safe route to the operating position without treating a cover as an operating enclosure.
Verdict
Consider the RYi2322 for a limited, verified 120V load plan when safe outdoor operation is possible. Choose more suitable capacity or another power arrangement when startup demand, voltage or the property layout rules it out. “Cleaner inverter power” does not mean cleaner or safe exhaust.
