The Waykar PD160B-PRO-B is a portable compressor dehumidifier rated for 34 pints per day under hot, very humid test conditions. It pairs that rating with a 0.6-gallon bucket and gravity-drain support.
Read the conditions behind the number
Waykar’s current product page states 34 pints per day at 95°F and 90% RH, 65 CFM airflow, a 3.3-foot drain hose, and 0.6-gallon tank. A typical cool basement will not reproduce that extraction rate.
The page markets coverage to 2,000 square feet, but moisture load, temperature, air movement, and water entry matter more than floor area alone. Size from measured humidity and actual conditions.
Drainage and upkeep
A small bucket fills well before 34 pints have accumulated. For unattended operation, route the gravity hose continuously downhill with no kinks and test the drain. There is no documented lift pump in this model.
Clean the washable filter on the manual’s schedule, keep air inlets clear, and inspect the bucket float and hose. Position the unit with required clearances and use a grounded outlet. A dehumidifier manages moisture in air; it does not repair a leak, failed vapor control, or bulk water entry.
Use a separate hygrometer to verify results. EPA recommends keeping indoor relative humidity below 60%, ideally 30% to 50%.
Verdict: the PD160B-PRO-B fits a modest space with a convenient low drain or an owner willing to empty a small tank. Do not buy from the square-foot or laboratory pint claim alone.
