The Flotec FPCI3350 is a 1/3 HP submersible primary sump pump with a cast-iron base, a vertical float switch, a 1-1/2-inch NPT discharge and a 22-foot maximum lift. Pentair says the switch works in basins 10 inches or larger. The 4,200 GPH headline is the pump’s top flow rating. Real output falls as lift and pipe losses rise, so check the performance curve at your home’s lift before you buy.
This page uses Pentair’s product page and installation manual. Nobody installed or ran the pump for it.

Check flow at your actual lift
Measure the vertical distance from the pump to where the discharge pipe leaves the house, then allow for friction from the pipe run, elbows and check valve. Read the flow at that point on Pentair’s performance curve and compare it with how fast your pit fills during heavy rain or snowmelt. If the pit fills faster than the pump empties it at that lift, you need a higher-capacity pump. A bigger pump in a small pit can also short-cycle, so pit size matters as well as horsepower.
Fit and installation
- Measure the basin. It needs to be at least 10 inches across, with room for the float to rise and fall without touching the wall, the discharge pipe or the cord.
- Set the pump on a stable, level base, not on loose gravel or silt.
- Follow the manual for the check valve, the vent hole if it calls for one, the union and testing.
- Plug it directly into a grounded receptacle as the manual specifies. Don’t cut off the ground pin or use an extension cord.
- Route the discharge so it won’t freeze and won’t send water back toward the foundation.
If the circuit, plumbing or code requirements are unclear, use a licensed plumber or electrician.
It’s a primary pump only
The FPCI3350 stops if the power goes out or the discharge freezes or clogs. It has no battery backup, alarm or second pump. In a finished basement, or a house with frequent outages or a pit that fills fast, add a separate battery backup pump and a high-water alarm.
Verdict
The FPCI3350 is a solid primary pump choice when its curve covers your lift and inflow, the basin gives the float room, and you have a separate outage plan. Don’t choose it from the 4,200 GPH figure alone.
