The Kohler Memoirs Stately K-3819 is a traditional-style, two-piece, chair-height (Comfort Height) elongated toilet that uses 1.6 gallons per flush. That flush volume is the first thing to check. 1.6 gpf is the federal maximum. WaterSense toilets use 1.28 gpf or less, so K-3819 can’t carry the WaterSense label. Confirm that your local plumbing code allows 1.6 gpf before you buy. If it doesn’t, choose a 1.28 gpf toilet. Other Memoirs models have their own specs, and K-3819’s numbers below don’t carry over to them.

Measure before you buy
- Rough-in: measure from the finished wall, not the baseboard, to the closet-bolt centers. K-3819 needs 12 inches.
- Projection: 30-3/8 inches is long. In a small bathroom, check the door swing and the clear floor in front of the bowl.
- Back-to-back drains: Kohler specifies a 45-degree double wye fitting, not a double sanitary tee.
Installation and parts
Check the flange and floor when the old toilet is off, and don’t overtighten the porcelain. Keep the bowl and tank numbers for Kohler’s K-3819 parts lookup. Other Memoirs models can use different tanks, levers and canisters.
