Mansfield’s Summit name covers more than one toilet configuration. The 4383CTK is a concrete current reference: an elongated, 1.28-gallon-per-flush kit for a nominal 12-inch rough-in. Do not transfer that identity to every Summit bowl, tank or older dual-flush model.

Measure from the finished wall, excluding baseboard, to the center of the closet bolts. Also measure side clearance, door swing, supply-valve position and available height beneath shelves. A nominal 12-inch rough-in does not guarantee the tank clears an irregular wall or that the bowl fits a tight bath.

Installation details decide the result

Confirm what the retailer’s kit includes. A seat, wax or wax-free seal, supply line, flange bolts and shutoff may be separate or vary by package. Inspect the existing flange after removal; a broken, low or unsupported flange needs repair before setting the new bowl.

Set the bowl without rocking and tighten fasteners evenly. Porcelain can crack if bolts are overtightened. Connect the tank and fill valve exactly as the manual shows, then test repeated flushes and inspect every joint. Local plumbing rules may require a licensed installer or specific clearances.

Ownership and parts

The 1.28-gpf rating is useful for water use, but it does not alone establish bowl-clearing performance in a particular drain system. Existing vent or drain trouble should be diagnosed instead of blamed on the new fixture.

Record the complete tank and bowl numbers before ordering future seals, flush valves or lids. “Fits Mansfield” is too broad for a critical internal part. Use manufacturer-listed replacements and set the fill level to the mark, not above it.

Verdict and buying route

The Summit 4383CTK is a sensible value-oriented option when an elongated bowl, 12-inch rough-in and 1.28-gpf format fit the room. Buyers needing a round-front bowl, different rough-in or chair-height geometry should select by exact combination number.
