The Delta 52158 is a simple overhead rain head: an 11-3/4-inch metal raincan with a single Soft Rain spray. It works best on a ceiling arm or an extended wall arm that puts the face directly overhead. It is the wrong pick if you want a focused or massaging spray, because it has only one setting. The shower arm and flange are sold separately.
This review is based on Delta’s product page and specification sheet. Nobody tested the shower head for this page.

The flow suffix matters. Standard finish variants are 1.75 gpm and WaterSense labeled. The 2.5-gpm version is a separate SKU, and local plumbing rules may not allow it. Retail titles often leave the suffix off, so check it before you order.
Check the arm and the supply
- Arm position. A short, angled wall arm can put a 12-inch face close to the wall and aim much of the water at it. Plan on a ceiling arm or an extended arm.
- Arm load. A large metal head puts more leverage on the arm and the fitting inside the wall. Hold the arm steady while you tighten, and test the joint before you close any access panel.
- Pressure. A big face doesn’t add pressure. At 1.75 gpm the rain pattern is gentle, and it gets gentler on a low-pressure supply.
Cleaning
Delta’s Touch-Clean nozzles let you rub mineral buildup off by hand. Hard water still means regular cleaning. Use cleaners that are safe for the finish, and skip abrasives.
Verdict
Choose the 52158 if you want a broad, single-mode overhead rain pattern from a metal head and you can mount it on a suitable arm. Choose a smaller multi-setting head if your supply pressure is low, your arm projection is short or you want a stronger spray.
