The SKIL CR540602 is a six-and-a-half-inch cordless circular saw kit for wood-cutting projects. Its included battery and charger make it a specific starting package, rather than a recommendation to buy any saw carrying the SKIL name.

This review is based on the manufacturer page and manual. We have not measured runtime, cutting speed, tracking accuracy or grip comfort against competing saws.

Capacity that changes the buying decision

The CR540602 kit page lists a 2-1/8-inch cut depth at ninety degrees and 1-3/4 inches at forty-five degrees, with bevel adjustment to fifty degrees. Check your actual material and cutting angle against those limits.

The kit contains a 2.0Ah PWR Core 20 battery, charger and twenty-four-tooth wood blade. The supplied blade is not an all-material accessory. Use only a compatible blade and a material application permitted by the saw’s instructions.

For example, a straight cut through ordinary nominal two-by lumber is different from a deep bevel through a thick post. A smaller blade diameter is not inherently a disadvantage when it covers the work, but a cut beyond the rated depth needs a different method or tool.

Battery kit versus bare tool

Match the kit code, battery platform and charger to the offer. Owning another SKIL product does not establish that its battery fits this saw. The brand sells different systems, and a replacement charger must suit both the battery and the local electrical supply.

We do not have a verified cuts-per-charge result for this kit. Repeated long cuts can make charging and spare-battery planning relevant, but it would be misleading to claim a universal runtime or say that every cordless saw is unsuitable for framing.

Support the work safely

Use stable support and the manual’s cutting technique to avoid trapping the blade. Keep the guard working, set the depth correctly and remove the battery for blade changes or adjustments. A guide or straightedge can help establish the cut line, but it must not interfere with the saw or guard.

For sheet material, plan the support and offcut before starting. A compact saw does not make balancing a large panel on an unsuitable surface safe. Our first circular-saw buying guide covers the wider tool-choice decision.

Verdict

Consider this exact kit for compatible household wood projects if its capacity and battery setup fit the work. Compare a corded option if power is readily available and you would otherwise buy a battery system for one job. Choose on the required cuts, safe handling and complete package cost.
