The Wyze Lock Bolt v2 replaces your whole deadbolt. It adds a fingerprint reader, a keypad, a mechanical key and built-in Wi-Fi, so you don’t need a hub. At under $80 on Wyze’s site, it’s a low-cost way to get remote locking and access history. Before you buy, check that the door’s thickness, backset and bore match, and that the bolt slides freely into the strike.

Don’t confuse the three Wyze locks

The Lock Bolt v2 is the current Wi-Fi model. The original Lock Bolt connects mainly over Bluetooth. The Wyze Lock is a retrofit that mounts over the inside of your existing deadbolt and keeps your current exterior key. Old reviews and marketplace listings often mix them up, so match the generation before you buy.

Door fit comes first

Measure the door thickness, backset and cross-bore against the table above, and use Wyze’s template. The bolt has to extend fully without the motor straining against a misaligned strike. Fix sagging hinges or strike alignment before installation, because extra motor effort drains batteries and makes locking unreliable.

The exterior keypad is rated IP53, but the indoor assembly is rated only for 32°F to 122°F, so it has to stay on the conditioned side of the door. Confirm local fire-egress and rental rules before you change hardware.

Access and account security

Give each person their own fingerprint and code, and delete temporary codes promptly. Use a unique Wyze password with two-factor authentication. Keep a physical key somewhere other than the locked side of the door, and replace the batteries when the app warns you. Test every entry method and auto-lock with the door open, then closed, before you rely on them.

Verdict

The Lock Bolt v2 fits a standard deadbolt door when you want fingerprint and keypad entry, remote Wi-Fi control and a key backup at a low price. Choose the retrofit Wyze Lock if you want to keep your existing exterior hardware.
