The Gladiator GARS604TEG is a freestanding rack with four adjustable shelves. Gladiator lists it at 60 inches wide with 18-inch-deep shelves, so it belongs in a garage or utility area with a clear five-foot wall run rather than a narrow closet.
This is a fit and setup assessment based on Gladiator’s specifications. It does not claim a hands-on load test.
Measure the loaded layout
Mark the rack’s full width and depth on the floor. Include clearance for doors, garage tracks, outlets and the largest bin, plus room to lift containers off the upper shelf. Check the assembled height against pipes, soffits and door hardware.
Shelf adjustability helps only when the planned items fit the available increments. Measure tall bottles and totes before assembly and decide where each shelf belongs; repeated loaded adjustment is avoidable work.
Confirm floor and restraint requirements
Set the rack on a firm, level surface and follow Gladiator’s current assembly and anchoring instructions. Do not use scrap shims or a leaning wall to compensate for an uneven floor. Put heavy, dense items on lower shelves so the rack is less top-heavy.
Published load ratings depend on correct assembly and even distribution. A point load, damaged shelf or altered frame is a different condition. Never climb the rack or use a shelf as a work platform.
Store materials safely
Keep fuels, pool chemicals, pesticides and other regulated products in the conditions their labels require rather than treating open shelving as universal storage. Protect cardboard and corrosion-prone tools from damp floors and roof leaks. Leave shutoffs, panels and emergency equipment accessible.
Buying decision
Choose GARS604TEG when the measured space accepts a 60-inch freestanding rack and four 18-inch-deep shelves suit the planned containers. Choose a narrower rack or a manufacturer-documented wall system when floor width is the limiting factor.
